NWBANDFEST 2020 March 7, 2020
The Beaverton Community Band and Rex Putnam High School Band host the Northwest Band Festival on Saturday, March 7, 2020, at Rex Putnam High School, 4950 SE Roethe Road, Milwaukie, OR.
BEAVERTON, Oregon – The Beaverton Community Band and the Rex Putnam High School Band once again are partnering to bring seven Portland- and Vancouver-area community bands together for NWBandFest2020 ( NWBandFest.org ) on Saturday, March 7, 2020. Doors open at 9:00 A.M., with the first performance beginning at 10:00 A.M.
This year’s festival features a variety of experiences. Clinician Michael Burch-Pesses, DMA, will lead several of the participating bands through a live rehearsal. A former bandmaster in the U.S. Navy, Dr. Burch-Pesses has conducted bands throughout the U.S. as well as in Canada, South America, Europe, Asia, and Australia. He has served as conductor and music director of the Oregon Symphonic Band since 1998 and is President of the Oregon Band Directors Association. Clinic pieces will be listed prior to the event so that audience members can follow along with Dr. Burch-Pesses as he interprets the selections.
In addition to the clinics, NWBandFest2020 will include full ensemble performances by participating bands, as well as performances by smaller ensembles from the Beaverton Community Band, Vancouver Community Concert Band, and Portland Metro Concert Band. There will be raffles throughout the day to benefit the Rex Putnam High School music programs, and local music vendors will be on hand.
Participating bands represent Northwest communities and are committed to exposing others to great band music. NWBandFest2020 performing ensembles and tentative performance times are:
- 10:15 A.M. Clackamas Community Band, Clackamas, OR
- *11:00 A.M. Second Winds Community Band, McMinnville, OR
- 12:00 P.M. Beaverton Community Band, Beaverton, OR
- *12:45 P.M. Vancouver Community Concert Band, Vancouver, WA
- 1:45 P.M. Rose City Wind Symphony, Portland, OR
- *2:30 P.M. Portland Metro Concert Band, Portland, OR
- 3:45 P.M. Rex Putnam High School Wind Ensemble, Milwaukie, OR

Donation: Adults $5.
Students K-12 free.
